He so fat.
my room is full of cardboard boxes for rats to hide in.
Choco has a cut on his side that doesn’t seem to be healing or that he keeps reopening, does anyone have any advice?
In other news, Lars is going into surgery tomorrow to have two lumps removed. fingers crossed.
The vet said that one lump on Lars came back as benign but the other has malignant cells. So they are both going to have to be removed.. only thing is £140 seems like a lot, especially since the testing cost £90 already.
Anyone who thinks rats are cheap pets to look after has another thing coming. Jeez.
remind me never to give a rat a bath again..
Lars is on a diet. Strangely enough I just made a brilliant typo and wrote “Lard”.
But yes, the vet weighed him in at 800g minimum. Which is.. as she said, very fat. So no treats, except rice crispies and more veg in his diet to fill him up. I’m also considering changing their pets at home rat nuggets to something with lower protein levels (16% to 14%). He won’t be allowed back into his cage during play time and I have more toys to hopefully keep him moving. The bonus is that Choco loves the feathers on a stick cat toy.
And it’s so strange not filling up the food bowl but hand feeding instead, I feel like I’m starving the little bugger :/
I have a rat question. I have two boys, they are absolutely fine inside the cage but outside they fight. One is territorial while the other chases him as if he wants to play. But it just winds him up and they fight.
Apart from hormones all I can think of is that there in another male rat that shares play room but isn’t in their group.
I just wish they would get on like they do when they cuddle up together at night.
It’s a shame because they’re both lovely boys but as bad as each other at play time.
